Engineered wood flooring for Bristol projects
We supply FSC-certified Winderen engineered oak, PEFC-certified Vermont hybrid wood and carbon-negative Classic Cork to architects and specifiers across Bristol and the South West – supply-only, and unusually strong on the sustainability evidence a green city expects.
Specifying for Bristol’s building stock
Bristol asks more of a material specification than most UK cities, and the building stock is genuinely mixed. The Georgian and Victorian fabric of Clifton and the older centre sits alongside two decades of Harbourside regeneration and the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone – where the University of Bristol’s new enterprise campus and a wave of mixed-use development are reshaping the east of the city. Add a large student market across the University of Bristol and UWE, a creative and tech economy that drives high-specification office fit-out, and a residential market split between period conversion and new build, and a single doorway-style board rarely answers all of it.
Which range suits which scheme
- Winderen – FSC-certified engineered oak, 25-year warranty, in plank and herringbone. For period-sympathetic residential, hotel and front-of-house, and design-led office refurbishment.
- Vermont – PEFC-certified hybrid wood, positioned for dent resistance and heavy footfall. For hospitality and retail, student-accommodation communal areas and high-traffic office circulation.
- Classic Cork and our Organic collection – where acoustics, warmth underfoot and the strongest sustainability story lead the brief, particularly in education and wellbeing-focused workplaces.
Sustainability is the Bristol brief
Bristol was the first UK city to declare a climate emergency and targets net-zero by 2030, and that ambition shows up in specifications here more than almost anywhere else – embodied carbon, responsible sourcing and indoor air quality are rarely optional. Every range we supply is third-party certified (Winderen FSC, Vermont PEFC), Classic Cork is carbon-negative, and we provide chain-of-custody documentation, EPDs carrying the A1–A3 embodied-carbon figure, and low-VOC / indoor-air-quality data to substantiate BREEAM and WELL credits. See our wider sustainable flooring approach.
South West project
Nearby in Swindon, we supplied Classic Cork and our Organic collection for a project delivered with Abacus – a good illustration of how the range travels across the South West beyond engineered oak alone, and of the sustainability-led, mixed-material specification the region tends to favour.
Evidence for specification
Every specifier quote ships with the pack a Bristol project team needs to make the call and defend it:
- Reaction-to-fire classification for the finished floor.
- Approved Document Part E acoustic data, with SilentLay underlay build-ups for separating floors.
- Moisture / relative-humidity guidance for screeds and underfloor heating.
- Slip resistance (PTV, BS 7976) where the brief calls for it.
- EPDs and warranties – Winderen 25-year; Vermont PEFC; Classic Cork 10-year commercial / lifetime residential.
It all sits in our downloads library, and pairs with wider specifier support for architects.
Delivery and support across the South West
We are supply-only, so there is no channel conflict with your contractor. Samples are dispatched UK-wide to Bristol practices and site offices; deliveries are scheduled to site; and you deal with one specifier contact from first sample to final delivery. Where the floor is glued down, we supply MonoSil P, our solvent-free, EC1 Plus adhesive, and can advise on the full build-up as a coordinated floor system.
