Sustainability
FSC & PEFC Certified Flooring
When a floor carries FSC or PEFC certification, it means the timber has been traced from a responsibly managed forest all the way to your project. At The Floor Gallery, sustainability is not an afterthought, our engineered wood and cork floors are chosen for their environmental credentials, including FSC-certified and PEFC-certified oak.
What does FSC certification mean?
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the most widely recognised forest-certification scheme in the world. An FSC label means the wood comes from forests managed to strict environmental and social standards, with a documented chain of custody at every stage. For specifiers, FSC-certified flooring supports BREEAM and other sustainability frameworks.
What does PEFC certification mean?
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is the world’s largest forest-certification system, with particularly strong coverage of European and family-owned forests. Like FSC, it guarantees responsible sourcing and full chain-of-custody traceability.
FSC vs PEFC, which is better?
Both are credible, independent and widely accepted. FSC is the most internationally recognised, while PEFC covers a larger total forest area. For most projects, either certification demonstrates genuinely responsible sourcing, what matters is that your floor carries one of them.
