Wide-Plank Engineered Oak Flooring

Wider, longer boards for a calmer, more expansive floor. FSC-certified Winderen oak, stable at width and suited to underfloor heating.

Wide-plank engineered oak flooring in a retail interior

Wide-plank oak has become the default for calm, contemporary interiors. Wider, longer boards mean fewer joints across the floor, so the eye reads a continuous surface and the room feels larger and quieter. Wide boards also show more of each board grain and figure, which is why they suit feature spaces and high-end residential and commercial projects.

Why engineered wide plank

Solid timber boards move with changes in humidity, and the wider the board the more it moves, which is why very wide solid floors can cup or gap. An engineered board solves this: a real oak wear layer over a cross-layered core stays stable at width, so you get the wide-board look without the movement, and a floor that is well suited to underfloor heating.

Grades, finishes and formats

Our wide-plank oak is available across the grades, from clean prime to characterful rustic (see oak flooring grades), in oiled and lacquered finishes and a wide range of tones. If you want pattern instead, the same oak is milled for herringbone and chevron.

Specified with confidence

Winderen wide-plank oak is FSC-certified with a substantial real-wood wear layer and a 25-year Floor Gallery warranty, and comes with the spec evidence architects need. See flooring for architects and, for heated floors, engineered wood with underfloor heating.

Frequently asked questions

How wide is wide-plank flooring? There is no fixed definition, but wide-plank oak generally means boards around 180mm wide and up. We hold a range of widths, so ask us for current options.

Are wide boards stable? Engineered wide-plank boards are stable because the cross-layered core resists the movement that affects wide solid boards.

Can wide-plank oak be used with underfloor heating? Yes. The engineered construction makes it well suited to underfloor heating when the build-up and commissioning follow the guidance.

Is wide-plank oak suitable for commercial projects? Yes. With the right grade, finish and wear layer it suits high-end residential and commercial interiors alike.
