Detail -- Underfloor heating
Cork flooring with underfloor heating.
Cork plank specified over UFH at 27°C surface temperature. Cork's R-value (0.25 m²K/W per 7mm) means the floor reads warm without UFH; with UFH, hits temperature ~30% faster than oak parquet. Carbon negative, Class B fire, zero PVC.

The Waterman, Farringdon Lane -- Classic Cork over UFH.
Cork over UFH delivers a workplace floor that is warm underfoot in winter and acoustically calm year-round. The Waterman uses Classic Cork Original Shell across UFH-served office and circulation zones -- single material, single thermal envelope.

Cork over UFH -- in context.
"Cork's R-value of 0.25 m²K/W per 7mm means it reads warm without UFH and warms faster with it. The thermal performance is part of the material story, not a compromise."
UFH detail
How cork performs over UFH.
27°C max
UFH-compatible to 27°C surface temperature across both Classic Cork and Cork Styles. Above 27°C the cork's UV-cured polyurethane wear-layer can soften over extended exposure.
0.25 m²K/W
Cork's R-value per 7mm is the lowest of any wood-based commercial floor. The thermal mass + insulation profile means UFH heats the room faster and holds heat longer.
Glue-down
Fully adhered (glue-down) install over UFH-served substrate. Standard 7-10 day moisture-test window before glue-down. Two-component polyurethane adhesive.
30-60% RH
Cork tolerates the seasonal RH range typical of UFH-served interiors. Engineered cork construction is dimensionally stable across the heating cycle.
-101
kg CO&sub2;e/m² net
Carbon negative once balanced with carbon sequestration. The cork tree absorbs more CO&sub2; across its 9-year regenerative growth cycle than is emitted in cradle-to-gate manufacture.
Class B
fire rating standard
Bfl-s1 per EN 13501-1 across the range. Specified into commercial floors without additional fire treatment.
Zero
PVC in construction
No PVC. Cork plank + cork core + cork backing + UV-cured polyurethane. Specified into WELL, healthcare and SKA fit-outs that exclude vinyl.

Cork and underfloor heating
Cork is a naturally warm, low-density material, which makes it a comfortable partner for water-based underfloor heating when the build-up and commissioning follow the manufacturer guidance. Classic Cork is available as a rigid-core click plank or glue-down (see click vs glue-down cork flooring) and with a waterproof core for kitchens and bathrooms. Explore the full cork flooring range, or for acoustic build-ups see our acoustic cork flooring and Part E acoustic flooring pages.
Frequently asked questions
Can cork flooring be used with underfloor heating? Yes. Both click and glue-down cork can be used with water-based underfloor heating when build-up and commissioning follow the guidance.
Is cork good over underfloor heating? Cork is naturally warm underfoot and its low build-up suits heated floors; always confirm the tog and build-up guidance for your system.
Cork flooring and underfloor heating
Can you use cork flooring with underfloor heating?
Yes. Cork flooring works with both hot-water and electric underfloor heating. Keep the floor surface temperature at or below 27 °C and commission the heating gradually before and after installation. The Floor Gallery’s Classic Cork is suitable for underfloor heating and, because cork is naturally warm underfoot, it reaches a comfortable temperature quickly. See our cork flooring range.
