Unusual Rigging HQ — Bugbrooke
Classic Cork Collection in Shell Jasmin — designed by Corstorphine & Wright
Corstorphine & Wright designed Unusual Rigging’s new headquarters in Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire as a sustainable office build — and specified the Classic Cork Collection in Shell Jasmin across the interior. The cork floor runs through the atrium, the open workspace and the meeting areas, tying the building’s interior into a single material story aligned with the project’s sustainability credentials.
Cork was the right answer for several reasons that mattered to the brief: a renewable, plant-derived material that fits a low-carbon office build (the Classic Cork Collection’s IBU EPD reports A1–A3 GWP-total of 0.72 kg CO₂eq/m² — a fraction of typical hard-floor alternatives); a naturally acoustic surface that absorbs footfall in open-plan workspace and reduces reverberation in the atrium; and an indoor-air-friendly floor (GREENGUARD Gold, A+ French Mark, BREEAM Exemplary, PVC-free) for the people who work in the building every day.
