Organic resilient flooring in an early-years education setting

Healthcare and education floors carry a brief few other interiors match: constant footfall, spills and wheeled loads, strict hygiene and cleaning regimes, slip safety, acoustic comfort and, increasingly, indoor air quality for vulnerable occupants. The Organic Collection is rated to utilisation Class 43 (heavy commercial / light industrial), which puts it squarely in scope for these sectors while bringing a material story PVC floors cannot.

Wear, hygiene and cleanability

Class 43 is the heaviest commercial wear classification under EN ISO 10874, so the floor is built for corridors, wards, classrooms and circulation. The surface is fully waterproof with no swelling or warping, and requires no special coating or sealer, it is cleaned with standard procedures, which matters in settings where infection control and predictable maintenance drive the spec.

Slip safety and wet areas

The Organic Collection is R9 slip-rated (DIN 51130) and waterproof, so it carries from dry circulation into washrooms, wet rooms and changing areas without a material change, useful where a single, continuous floor finish simplifies detailing and reduces junctions that collect dirt.

Comfort, acoustics and air quality

Bio-based polyurethane is warmer and quieter than rigid alternatives: the floor delivers 8 dB impact-sound reduction and is comfortable underfoot for staff on long shifts and children at floor level. And because it is PVC-free, zero-VOC and GREENGUARD Gold certified, it supports the indoor-air-quality targets that healthcare and education clients increasingly write into briefs.

Underfloor heating and format

The Organic Collection is underfloor-heating compatible to a 29°C surface temperature, installs glue-down at 2.5 mm, and comes in tile, plank and roll formats with oak, stone and solid-colour decors, so a design team can zone wayfinding and spaces by colour while holding one technical specification across the building.

The whole-life case

An independent PFIFF Institute study found a 30% lifetime cost saving versus conventional flooring. For estates and frameworks judged on whole-life value as much as capital cost, a durable, low-maintenance, low-emission floor with a published EPD and Cradle to Cradle Silver certification is a straightforward case to make.
