Lacoste — one of the world's most recognisable heritage retail brands — specified the Winderen Collection in plank format for a flagship retail store fit-out. Lacoste's brand language combines French heritage tonality with contemporary retail performance, and the engineered oak floor was selected to carry the same material narrative across the shop floor.
Retail flooring has a particular set of demands. The floor reads constantly under bright key-lighting, takes shoe-traffic loads measured in thousands of footfalls per day, and has to look as fresh on day 1,000 as it does on opening day. Solid plank parquet would be unforgiving in those conditions — it cups and gaps under retail HVAC humidity swings and the moisture introduced by wet-weather footfall.
