Flooring for hospitality and leisure

A hospitality floor has to survive what a home never throws at it, heels, trolleys, dragged furniture, spills and grit, while carrying the brand and shrugging off the maintenance closures that cost an operator revenue. Here is how our ranges map to hotels, restaurants, bars and leisure spaces.

What a hospitality floor has to deliver

Front-of-house floors live or die on dent and wear resistance, the marks from heels and castors that show in raking light across a lobby. Add water resistance for bars and food service, low-downtime maintenance (a floor you recoat overnight rather than sand and close), Class B (Bfl-s1) fire for escape routes, acoustic control, and a finish that earns its place in the design. Back-of-house and wet areas then need their own, more utilitarian, answer.

The compliance evidence

Specify to the standards, not the showroom. Our guides set out the reaction-to-fire and slip classifications and our tested figures; we issue the certificates for the exact product and finish on request.

Durability where it counts: dents, heels and castors

Hospitality floors fail at pinch points, bar fronts, waiter runs, chair legs. Vermont, our PEFC-certified hybrid wood range, is engineered specifically for dent resistance in this environment: see dent-resistant engineered wood flooring for the detail. For dining rooms and hotel lobbies that want classic oak, FSC-certified Winderen engineered oak carries a 25-year warranty and re-sands rather than replaces.

Noise, comfort and compliance

Venues lose reviews to noise as often as to food. Cork absorbs impact sound at the source, quietening a dining room, and helps separating floors in boutique hotels meet Part E acoustic requirements. Slip-rated finishes to PTV 36+ (BS 7976) are available on request, more in our slip resistance guide, alongside fire-rated options to Class Bfl-s1 (EN 13501-1).

Leisure and wellness venues

Beyond hotels, restaurants and bars, leisure and wellness spaces each ask something different of a floor. In spas, pool surrounds and changing rooms, genuine wet zones, we specify 100% waterproof, PVC-free Classic Cork, warm underfoot and available slip-rated to PTV 36+ (BS 7976) on request. For gyms, studios and high-traffic circulation, engineered oak, including our dent-resistant hybrid, takes castors, kit and footfall without marking. In cinemas, members’ clubs and lounges, cork’s acoustic absorption (impact insulation to IIC 71–73) keeps rooms calm, and its low-VOC, PVC-free make-up supports WELL and health-focused fit-outs.
